Fiji is no stranger to newly weds and married couples rekindling their flame in the crisp waters of Fiji. This romantic itinerary integrates the excitement of departing from a bustling city like Los Angeles, undertaking a journey to a serene Fijian paradise. It’s not merely a trip, but a deeply enriching experience in love.
Flights from Los Angeles to Nadi, Fiji departs every Sunday to Wednesday at 11:55pm local time arriving 6am local time. From Nadi returning to Los Angeles the flight departs Monday to Sunday at 9:40pm local time arriving Los Angeles at 1:05pm local time. Travel time is about 11 hours between Los Angeles and Fiji. As a Fiji local, I’ll include a town in the itinerary for a more local immersive experience.
Day 1: Arriving at the Hilton Fiji
Your journey begins at LAX, where you’ll board a direct Fiji Airways flight. After a peaceful overnight journey, you will touch down in Nadi in the early morning. A quick 20-minute transfer brings you to the Hilton Fiji Beach Resort and Spa, home to the longest private beach on Denarau Island.
Since the flight lands early, you may leave your luggage at the reception awaiting check-in. Meanwhile you can wander through the resort’s sprawling gardens or lounging by one of the seven swimming pools.
For a truly romantic start, head over to Koro, the resort’s exclusive adults-only complex. Here, you can enjoy a quiet lunch by the pool with your toes practically in the sand, letting the ocean breeze wash away the last of your travel fatigue.
As the sun begins to set, walk hand-in-hand along the 1.5km of private beach before enjoying a lantern-lit dinner at Nuku Restaurant, where the sound of the waves provides the perfect soundtrack to your first night in paradise.

Day 2: Day Trip at Savala Island
On your second day, prepare for a “castaway” experience on a small island. Just a three-minute trip from the Hilton is Port Denarau, where you’ll board the Oolala Cruise to Savala Island. Being a Fiji local I called them up and was advised there’re 35 spaces on a boat each day. Overcrowding on the island is not a problem.
As you sail across the calm waters of Nadi Bay, the crew will serve morning tea and homemade pastries while sharing stories of Fijian culture. After about 60 minutes, the tiny, white-sand oasis of Savala Island appears on the horizon. T
his private island is surrounded by a protected marine sanctuary, meaning the snorkelling is world-class. You can spend your morning kayaking together through the turquoise shallows or trying your hand at stand-up paddle boarding included in the price.
After a fresh BBQ buffet lunch served in the island’s main hut, join the crew for a “baby shark” viewing or a coconut husking demonstration. By the time the boat sails back at 4:30 pm accompanied by the heartfelt songs of the crew and afternoon tea on board you’ll feel completely immersed in your Fiji day trip.

Day 3: Rejuvenation & Relaxation
After the excitement of the sea, Day 3 is dedicated to cultural connection. Start your morning with a breakfast at the Hilton’s Deli, famous for its espresso and fresh pastries.
Afterward at 8am, head to the reception to wait for your pick up at 8:30am for the Nadi Wonders Tour booked on Klook. You’ll return at 12:30pm. After lunch try Hilton Spa for a “Fijian Bobo Massage.” This traditional technique uses warm, locally sourced coconut oils and firm pressure to melt away any lingering tension.
Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at pool and busking in the sun. End the day at Maravu, the resort’s Pan-Asian restaurant, where you can watch the nightly torch-lighting ceremony while enjoying wok-fried lobster and the view of the Mamanuca Islands in the distance.
Day 4: Exploring Sigatoka Town
On Day 4, leave the manicured lawns of Denarau behind for a deep dive into Fiji’s history and heart with the Sigatoka Wonder Walking Tour. This full-day adventure begins with a guided trek through the Sigatoka market, Kula Wild Adventure Park and Pottery village where you’ll be welcomed into a community that has been crafting clay vessels for generations.
It’s an intimate look at local life that most tourists miss. The experience is capped off with a traditional Fijian lunch, allowing you to taste authentic, home-cooked flavors while bonding with your hosts. This tour is the perfect blend of physical activity, history, and local hospitality, leaving you with a much deeper connection to the “Real Fiji” before returning to Hilton Resort.
Day 5: Floating Bars and Sun-Kissed Waves
For your final full day, head back to Port Denarau for a short boat ride to Cloud 9 or Seventh Heaven. These are world-famous floating platforms anchored in the middle of a crystal-clear reef. While Savala Island offered a quiet, boutique vibe, these floating bars offer a vibrant, “day club” energy.
You can jump directly off the deck into the deep blue water, snorkel the surrounding reef, or simply lounge on a daybed with a wood-fired pizza and a cocktail in hand. It is the ultimate spot for those iconic honeymoon photos. After a few hours of sun and sea, head back to Denarau for your final sunset
. For a special treat, book a Private Cabana Dinner at the Hilton. The resort will set up a secluded table on the beach, lit by torches and decorated with tropical flowers, where you’ll enjoy a multi-course meal and a bottle of sparkling wine as the sky turns deep shades of violet and orange. Romantic isn’t it?

Day 6: The Journey Home
On your final day, take it slow and savor the last few hours of island life. Wake up early for a final walk along the beach. Enjoy a brunch at Nuku Restaurant making sure to try the local tropical fruits one last time. You may check-out and keep your luggage at the reception before going out and about. I’d recommend visiting Garden of the Sleeping Giant if you’d like or simply lounge at the pool and public areas of the resort. Remember to be at the airport 3 hours before departure and while there reflect on your memorial journey…until next time.
FAQ
1. Is 6 days really enough for a honeymoon in Fiji? While you could easily spend weeks here, 6 days is the “sweet spot” for a high-impact escape from Los Angeles. By staying at a central hub like the Hilton Fiji on Denarau, you eliminate long domestic travel times, ensuring you spend your days on the beach rather than in transit.
2. How long is the flight from LAX, and will I lose a day? The direct flight from LAX to Nadi (NAN) is approximately 11 hours. Because you cross the International Date Line, you will “lose” a day traveling west, but you’ll “gain” it back on your return. Most Fiji Airways flights depart LAX at night and land in the early morning, letting you start your honeymoon immediately.
3. What is the best time of year to book this itinerary? The ideal time is the dry season (May to October), which offers sunny skies and lower humidity. However, traveling in the shoulder months of April or November can provide excellent weather with fewer crowds at popular spots like Savala Island.
4. Do I need to book the Savala Island and Sigatoka tours in advance? Yes! The Oolala Cruise to Savala Island is a boutique experience with limited capacity to keep it intimate. Similarly, the Sigatoka Wonder Walking Tour involves local village coordination. We recommend booking via Klook at least 2 weeks before your departure.
5. What should I wear when visiting a Fijian village? Fijian culture is modest and respectful. When visiting a village (like on the Sigatoka tour), women should wear a sulu (sarong) or a dress that covers the knees, and both men and women should ensure their shoulders are covered. Always remove your hat and sunglasses before entering a village as a sign of respect.
6. Is the Hilton Fiji Resort suitable for a romantic honeymoon? Absolutely. While the resort is family-friendly, it features an exclusive adults-only complex called Koro. This area includes a private pool, bar, and restaurant, allowing couples to enjoy a sophisticated, quiet atmosphere away from the main resort activity.
7. Can I snorkel if I’m not a strong swimmer? Yes. The waters around Savala Island are very calm and shallow. The tour operators provide life jackets and high-quality snorkel gear, and the crew is excellent at assisting beginners so you can safely see the coral and fish.
8. What is “Kava,” and do I have to drink it? Kava is a traditional drink made from the crushed root of a pepper plant. It is has a mild numbing effect on the tongue and is very relaxing. While it’s a polite gesture to try a “low tide” (small serving) during a ceremony, your hosts will not be offended if you politely decline. Drinking too much kava may make you drunk.
