Fiji’s immigration policy is one of the most traveler-friendly in the South Pacific. Here is everything you need to know about visiting Fiji without a pre-arranged visa.
What Does “Visa-Exempt” Actually Mean?
If you hold a passport from a visa-exempt country, you do not need to apply for a visa at an embassy or online before you fly. Instead, upon arrival at Nadi or Nausori International Airport, you will be granted a Visitor Permit automatically.
- Duration: This permit is typically valid for up to 4 months.
- Cost: There is no fee for this initial 4-month permit on arrival.
- Purpose: This is strictly for tourism, visiting family/friends, or short-term study. It does not allow you to work or start a business of which you’ll need a different permit.

Citizens of the following countries are not required to obtain a Fiji visa when travelling to Fiji. However, these travellers will still need the relevant permits depending on the nature of their travel. You’ll need to apply for the correct permit to: work, invest, study, reside with principal applicant, reside as Yachter, reside on medical purpose and/or reside in Fiji with assured income.
