4-Day Suva Stay | Things to do Touring Suva
Experience Suva, the capital city of Fiji for tourists and business travelers.
Day 1: Arrival & Colonial Landmarks
Check-In and drop your bags at the Holiday Inn Suva.
Step outside and walk past Albert Park (the landing site of the first trans-Pacific flight in 1928).
The Holiday Inn’s pool deck is the social hub of Suva at dusk. Gulp on local Fiji Gold beer while watching the sun dip behind the harbor.
Walk next door to the Grand Pacific Hotel for high-end dining or stay for wood-fired pizza at Wati ni Wai or order pizza at Holiday Inn’s bar.
Note: What I love about Holiday Inn is that when ordering fried food and pizza from the bar menu, they give a bottle of ketchup, chill sauce, BBQ sauce and Tabasco. Literally the bottle!

Day 2: Rainforest Pools & Local Markets
Private Suva Nature and Waterfall Tour could be booked or follow below for more flexibility. Explore nature’s Infinity Pools by taking a 15-minute taxi to Colo-i-Suva Forest Park. Hike to the “Lower Pools” for a swim in cold, clear mountain water.

Have a casual lakeside lunch at the Colo-i-Suva Eco Lodge restaurant before heading back to the city. Alternatively, visit the Suva Municipal Market. Don’t miss the upstairs section to see the Kava sellers at work. It’s the heart and soul of the city’s commerce.
Day 3: Shopping
Suva Market and Flea Market are the go to for local shopping experience. Have lunch Tapoo City Food Court or MHCC Food Court which are the two biggest shopping malls in Suva with each having their own foodcourts at the top most floor.

Day 4: Modern Suva & Departure
Visit My Suva Park for a walk along the modernized seawall with excising and resting benches. There is a paid toilet and shower facilities at the park.
Note: Holiday Inn Suva is cashless. Pay with a card (3% surcharge) or use a local access card.

If you’re going to Nadi, check out Wailoaloa itinerary or explore outer islands on a day trip.
Holidaying in Nadi vs Suva
Holidaying in Nadi and Suva offers two entirely different sides of Fiji, with Nadi being the main tourist hub with the sunny, resort-focused hub ideal for beach lounging, luxury stays, and island-hopping adventures, while Suva sits on the rainy southeast coast as the bustling, authentic capital city packed with local markets, colonial history, and nearby rainforests.
If your dream vacation involves white-sand beaches, sparkling pools, and easy boat trips to tropical islands, Nadi is the place to be. However, if you are more interested in diving into real Fijian city life, cultural history, and lush green hiking trails and don’t mind a bit of rain and a lack of swimming beaches Suva still has a lot to offer.
What Can Cruise Passengers Do in Suva
When your cruise ship docks in Suva, you can easily step off the ship and spend your day exploring Fiji’s lively capital on foot or with a quick taxi ride from the Suva Port which is opposite to the local market. Tip: In Fiji, most public toilets require a 50cents FJD entry fee.
Start with a stroll through the bustling Suva Municipal Market to check out tropical fruits and local handicrafts, then walk over to Thurston Gardens to visit the Fiji Museum and dive into the island’s rich history.
If you want to grab lunch or do some shopping, the downtown area and Suva Waterfront are filled with local cafes, shops, and lovely ocean views. For nature lovers wanting a bit more adventure, a short 15-minute taxi ride takes you right to Colo-I-Suva Forest Park, where you can hike through lush rainforest trails and swim in natural waterfall pools before heading back to the ship.
