Book Hong Kong Peak Tram Ticket

Book tickets and watch amazing scenic views reach to the height of sky scrapers in the sunset background or at night dazzled by the starry buildings.

The Peak Tram in Hong Kong is one of the world’s oldest and most famous funicular railways and running since 1888. Watch amazing scenic views reaching higher skyscrapers in the sunset background or at night dazzled by the starry buildings.

The tram climbs from 28 meters to 396 meters above sea level along a steep 1.4 km track (with gradients reaching up to 25.7 degrees), offering tilting views of the surrounding skyscrapers. You will ride in the modern 6th-generation tramcar, painted in its classic heritage “Peak Tram Green.”

Take the tram to the Sky Terrace 428 (observation deck ticket sold separately) or together as a package. Sky Terrace 428 is highest 360-degree outdoor observation deck in Hong Kong, sitting at 428 meters above sea level. It provides unobstructed, panoramic views of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, Victoria Harbour, and the South China Sea. It’s especially popular during sunset and after dark for the dazzling city lights.

Moreover, the tram drops you off directly inside The Peak Tower, a shopping and dining complex. Nearby attractions include Madame Tussauds Hong Kong (wax museum). Outside the tower at Peak Road Garden, you can watch ‘HSBC Life Illuminations at The Peak’ (running until June 6, 2027). This is a 10-minute, 3D projection mapping spectacle shown daily at 19:30, 20:30, and 21:30

How to get on the Peak Tram Hong Kong

Getting to the Peak Tram Lower Terminus (located at 33 Garden Road, Central) using public transit is very straightforward. It’s less daunting than it seems for me at least.

Depending on your preference, here are the most common ways to make the trip using the MTR or the bus:

By MTR (Subway)

+ Central Station (Exit J2): This is the most popular route. After exiting the station, walk through Chater Garden, cross Queen’s Road Central, and head up Garden Road. The walk is slightly uphill and takes about 10–15 minutes.

+ Admiralty Station (Exit C1): Alternatively, you can exit here, cross the footbridge to Queensway Plaza, and follow the signs toward Hong Kong Park. Walk through the scenic park following the signs for the Peak Tram. It also takes about 10–15 minutes.

By Bus

+ Peak Tram Shuttle Bus (Route 15C): If you are coming from the Star Ferry, you can board the 15C open-top/standard bus at the Central Piers (Pier 7). This route travels directly to the Peak Tram Lower Terminus.

+ Public Bus Routes: You can take Bus 12, 12A, 12M, 13, 23, 26, 40, or 56A and get off at the bus stop on Garden Road right outside the terminus.

HK Peak Tram FAQ

1. Are there fully Halal-certified restaurants at The Peak?
No, there are no formal restaurants at the top that carry official Halal certification. However, Rajasthan Rifles (located on the ground floor of Peak Galleria) explicitly sources its meats from Halal suppliers and handles them accordingly. Most casual cafes and fast-food spots open between 08:00 and 10:00, while major sit-down restaurants generally serve from 11:00 or 12:00 until 21:00 or 22:00. Because the Peak Tram runs until 23:00, you can easily get late-night snacks or drinks.
